The U.N. Security Council unanimously approved tough new sanctions against North Korea on Friday in response to its latest launch of a ballistic missile that Pyongyang says can reach anywhere on the US mainland.
The UN resolution seeks to ban almost 90 percent of refined petroleum exports to North Korea by capping them at 500,000 barrels a year and demands the repatriation of North Koreans working overseas within 24 months.
While denouncing North Korea's "unacceptable" nuclear and missile programs as well as the "tremendous risks" posed by its unannounced launches, Safronkov urged the "establishment of an atmosphere of trust among states in the region" through the de-escalation of military activity by multiple parties.
South Korean analysts warn North Korea will keep up nuclear tests in the new year, despite tougher sanctions. The North Korean regime over the years has sent thousands of workers primarily to China and Russian Federation to work, in effect, as slaves, with earnings being paid to the regime.
They were both among 16 North Koreans placed under United Nations sanctions on Friday.
"It sends the unambiguous message to Pyongyang that further defiance will invite further punishment and isolation", said U.S. Ambassador Nikki Haley after the 15-0 vote. Trump has signed an Executive Order declaring a national emergency over severe human rights abuses and corruption around the world.

Russian Federation and China, two of North Korea's closest allies, voted in favor of the resolution.
North Korea is already facing crippling sanctions created to derail North Korea's grand strategy. At that time, however, China and Russian Federation objected to oil restrictions that were too far-reaching. This aid was then used to prop up the regime and its military.
Trump, however, has taken a much stronger stance against North Korea, demanding a complete denuclearization of the regime.
