FBI accuses white supremacist of terror attack on Amtrak train in rural Nebraska Neo-Nazi Faces Terrorism Charges After Attempting to Derail Amtrak Train

An armed Missouri man who forcibly stopped an Amtrak train in Nebraska in October is an "alt-right neo-Nazi" who stockpiled weapons in his home, wanted to "kill black people" during recent protests in St. Louis, and may have been behind two alleged hate crimes in the area, the Federal Bureau of Investigation said. The FBI says they found Wilson in the engineer's seat, "playing with the controls". The backpack contained three more loaded speedloaders, a box of.38 ammunition, a hammer, a fixed-blade knife, tin snips, scissors, a tape measure and a face mask similar to those used in construction.

Wilson was arrested in October on suspicion of felony criminal mischief, trespassing and weapon charges. Among the items found were 11 AR-15 ammunition magazines, one drum-style ammunition magazine for a rifle, 100 rounds of 9mm ammunition, ammunition reloading supplies and a hand-made shield.

The train was heading eastbound with about 175 people aboard, when the break was pulled and the train was halted early October 22 in Oxford, Nebraska, about 200 miles southwest of Omaha.

After Wilson was arrested for triggering the train's brakes in October, FBI agents found weapons, tactical gear and white supremacist documents at his home. The FBI believes he traveled with this group to the Charlottesville rally. Wilson's parents told authorities that they had never known their son to be involved with drugs or the white supremacist movement, and refused to disclose any discussions about race relations that they had with him, according to court documents.

As the deputy handcuffed Wilson, the deputy discovered a loaded speedloader and a loaded.38 caliber handgun in the waistband of Wilson's trousers, the TV station reports.

It is believed that Wilson attended the deadly, far-right rally in Charlottesville in August.

Wilson's father subsequently provided agents with 15 firearms, including handguns and rifles and tactical body armor.

Wilson was taken to the Furnas County Jail at the time.

"The described documents are often (used) by individuals and groups attempting or planning to commit criminal acts or acts of terrorism or violence", Monte wrote in the affidavit in support of arresting Wilson. After Amtrak personnel detained Wilson, a sheriff's deputy arrived and found a "fully loaded speedloader with.38 bullets" and a "fully loaded 38 caliber handgun in Wilson's front waistband", federal court documents unsealed Wednesday state.

Shortly after his arrest, his attorney requested a competency hearing, saying that Wilson "cannot appreciate ... the charges against him ... due to the fact that his mental health issues are now untreated".

The complaint, unsealed this week, reveals that Wilson was the suspect in a 2016 road rage incident in Missouri in which a black woman reported a white man pointed a gun at her for no apparent reason. The cousin said Wilson "has expressed an interest in "killing black people" and others besides whites, especially during the protests in St. Louis", the affidavit said.

As the FBI began investigating Wilson, they say they found that he had attended an August white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Va. The license plate of the man's vehicle tracked back to Wilson.

When a deputy who was patting Wilson down after his arrest asked him what the bulge in his pocket was, Wilson replied, "My dick". According to Olney, Wilson and his white supremacist group were also responsible for putting up "whites only" signs at businesses in an unknown location.

Wilson now is in federal custody. He was arrested December 23 after the complaint against him was filed in federal court in Nebraska.
