John Dickerson to replace Charlie Rose at 'CBS This Morning'

CBS Aims to Boost Video-Streaming News Hub CBSN in 2018 John Dickerson Of CBS's 'Face The Nation' Is Set To Replace Charlie Rose
Ivan Hill | 10 January, 2018, 00:32

CBS said on Tuesday that it had chosen Mr. Dickerson, 49, to replace Charlie Rose as the third co-host of "CBS This Morning", a spot left empty since Mr.

In late November, CBS, Bloomberg Television and PBS announced suspension of Rose in the wake of a Washington Post report that said he had sexually harassed at least eight female employees and interns who worked for his production company.

Dickerson has anchored Face the Nation for over two years, as it generated some of its largest audience levels of the past three decades. "I have behaved insensitively at times, and I accept responsibility for that, though I do not believe that all of these allegations are accurate", Rose said in a statement shortly after the disclsoure".

Dickerson is one of the most respected journalists in the business today, equally adept at driving the news cycle through probing interviews with world leaders as he is having thoughtful conversations with people around the country on issues that matter the most to them.

Cops called her dad, Steve Roland, from a neighborhood Chick-Fil-A to state they'd discovered the missing 29-year-old writer. She had texted her roommate that a suspicious man in a blue truck was following her, according to Houston-based KPRC .

"This Morning" has the smallest audience of the three main morning shows on US broadcast television with a daily audience of about 3.6 million.

Dickerson has been the moderator of the Sunday morning public affairs program "Face the Nation" since 2015. Dickerson will move to NY as part of this new duties, and is expected to cede the "Nation" spot to a new anchor, Rhodes said in a memo to staff Tuesday. "He's the ideal complement to Gayle and Norah and will help us continue the momentum CBS This Morning has achieved over the last six years".

The question for CBS News executives is how to keep the show's momentum going.

Dickerson, who also serves as CBS News' chief Washington correspondent, joined CBS News in April 2009 as an analyst and contributor. Before Slate, Dickerson covered politics for 12 years for Time magazine. But with "CBS This Morning", the network is in a better competitive position against "Today" and "GMA" than ever before.
