Even Without Jake Browning, Washington's 2019 Quarterback Room Will Be Loaded

BREAKING: Georgia QB Jacob Eason Is Expected To Transfer To Washington Georgia QB Jacob Eason likely transferring to Washington
Faye Gross | 14 January, 2018, 00:13

Eason announced his decision Friday on Twitter, thanking the Bulldogs for "an incredible two years". He didn't specified where he will transfer.

QB Jacob Eason, the 2015 national prep player of the year from Lake Stevens High School who lost to injury his starting job at Georgia, is heading back home to play at the University of Washington. Jake Browning, unless he surprisingly declares for the National Football League draft in the next several days, will finish his career as a senior next season.

As a freshman, Eason completed 55.1 percent of his passes for 2,430 yards, 16 touchdowns and eight interceptions in 13 games. Eason started Georgia's season-opener against Appalachian State but suffered a sprained knee on the third series of the game. He would then have two seasons of eligibility after sitting out. With Fromm's success, Georgia will apparently lose arguably one of the best quarterbacks in the SEC to the Pac-12.

The two coaches who recruited Eason - Mike Bobo and Mark Richt - are no longer at Georgia.

Mark Helfrich joining Bears as offensive coordinator, reports say
Nagy said he will call the plays and the offense will be his design but Helfrich will obviously have plenty of influence. Helfrich enters the NFL after spending some time away from football following a rough 2016 season with the Oregon Ducks .

Eason will likely have to sit out a year if he makes the move to Washington, but he would have been the backup anyway had he been eligible for 2018. But Eason can't be blamed after seeing Fromm's success as a freshman, and he could certainly find a clear opportunity to start elsewhere.

He appeared in just three contests this season as the Bulldogs advanced to the College Football Playoff title game Monday night, losing a heartbreaker to the Alabama Crimson Tide, 26-23 in overtime. He did not name his destination, though the Seattle Times reported on Tuesday morning that multiple sources said he was expected to transfer to Washington.

I think we all knew it would come to this. "I'm going to do whatever for this team, this program and do anything I can to help them out".
