Former Alabama star and current San Francisco 49ers linebacker Reuben Foster was arrested on Friday night.

A second-degree marijuana possession charge is considered a Class A misdemeanor in Alabama.

Foster's arrest was first reported on Friday night by The Tuscaloosa News and then later confirmed by the Tuscaloosa Sheriff's office.

The 49ers released the following statement Friday night: "The San Francisco 49ers organization is aware of the matter involving Reuben Foster and we are now gathering all relevant facts". Foster was the NFL's Defensive Rookie of the Month in November.

A former Butkus Award victor, Foster was drafted in the first round by the San Francisco 49ers.

The San Francisco 49ers drafted Foster in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft, and he would go on to play 10 games registering a total of 72 tackles (59 solo).
