A majority of American voters, 53 percent, says Trump tried to derail or obstruct the investigation into Russian meddling and potential coordination with the Trump campaign. In the new Quinnipiac poll, 46 percent say it's appropriate vs. 44 percent who say it's not appropriate. But ask GOP voters, and it's the polar opposite.

The Rasmussen Reports daily survey released Thursday shows that Mr. Trump's approval rating is at 48 percent, statistically tied with his disapproval rating of 50 percent. Fifty-five percent of Republicans still have a positive view of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, according to the poll, despite Trump's feud with the agency. His approval rating maxed out at 42 percent in a February 7 poll past year. In a separate probe, 56 percent said the probe is fair and only 28 percent disagreed. Trump has repeatedly dismissed the investigation as a witch hunt and attacked top investigators in his own Justice Department. Still, 62% think the plan mostly helps the wealthy, a number almost unchanged since November.Favorable views of the Republican Party are up from 24% before tax reform passed to 32% now, though a majority of voters, 51%, still view the governing party unfavorably. This was conducted February 2-5, 2018, among 1,333 registered voters. The margin of error for the poll is +/- 3.3 percent, including the design effect.

85 percent of Republicans say he is not a racist, while 84 percent of Democrats say he is.
