Those injured include a major and daughter of the slain JCO, police sources said.

Even during an effort to attack the Indian consulate in Mazar-e-Sharif in Afghanistan, the attackers wrote on the wall of building where they were hiding that they had come to take revenge for Afzal Guru.

Three or four suspected members of the Jaish-e-Mohammed group attacked the camp at around 05:00 a. m. (23:30 GMT on Friday), The Indian Express reported. Former J&K chief minister Farooq Abdullah said that Pakistan had to stop terrorism and linked most incidents to Pakistan.

He said most of the 150 houses have been cleared and occupants moved to safety.

A defence spokesperson in Jammu said the terrorists entered the camp after an exchange of fire with a sentry near the family quarters at the rear.

The attack triggered a flurry of activities as the army rushed quick response teams and deployed commandos to neutralise the attackers.

While Mir was killed on the spot, Choudhary succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.

The site was cordoned off and surrounded by police and army units called in as reinforcements.

Jammu and Kashmir had been on high alert for potential trouble given that February 9 was the death anniversary of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru while February 11 is the death anniversary of JKLF founder Maqbool Butt.

This is also the second attack on the Sunjwan camp after 15 years.

The operation will continue till all the militants part of the fidayeen attack are apprehended or killed, he added.
