"We are working with Airbus and our customers to minimise any operational disruption", it said.

The European Aviation Safety Agency on Friday imposed restrictions on the use of recently delivered A320neo-family jets with engines starting at a certain serial number. "IndiGo has only three such affected aircraft".

Airbus has informed IndiGo that all A320neo deliveries are on hold until further notice following the discovery of a new issue with the Pratt & Whitney PW1100G engine, the carrier's parent company InterGlobe Aviation has disclosed.

Fourteen jets operated by Indigo and rival Go Airlines India Ltd. are impacted by the issue, Airbus said in the statement. Indigo yesterday said it had suffered three in-flight shutdowns, while pilots have had to turn back before taking off in three other instances. The issue is "limited" in that it's confined to the most recent round of engine production and involves engines delivered to customers since December 2017. The unit has been dogged by reports of GTF manufacturing delays and mechanical problems, although one Wall Street analyst said last month that it may transform into a significant profit driver.

This is the second occasion when the airline has been forced to ground planes on account of P&W engine problems.

The final will also include Americans Ben Ferguson, Chase Josey, and Jake Pates. Too late, folks, he has already been to the restaurant and had one for himself.

Airbus has traditionally offered two engine options on the A320, and the company maintained that approach on the neo. The Farmington conglomerate, which also makes aerospace parts, elevators and building systems equipment, has touted the engine as quieter and more fuel-efficient than those produced by competitors.

The problem stems from a component in the engine that can show early signs of wear, and it's located in an area that must withstand high pressure, an Airbus spokesperson said.

InterGlobe says low-priced carrier IndiGo has since grounded three of its aircraft "in the interim", and that the issue impacts "a limited sub-population" of engines. Airbus has issued an Alert Operators Transmission (AOT) providing instructions "to de-pair the affected engines and discontinue [ETOPS] for aircraft fitted with affected engines", according to EASA.

In a statement today, Pratt said it is working in concert with Airbus, "in close contact with customers" to address the EASA finding about an issue with what Pratt identified as a "knife edge seal" in the high-pressure compressor on the rear hub of the PW1100G-JM engine.
