Trump Calls Elizabeth Warren "Pocahontas" After She Reveals Native American Heritage

Elizabeth Warren seeks to put 'Pocahontas' barbs behind her Elizabeth Warren dismisses call to prove Native American ancestry claims with DNA test

President Donald Trump has constantly derided Warren, widely regarded as a likely 2020 Democratic presidential candidate, as "Pocahontas".

Last month, Warren addressed the National Congress of American Indians, trying to cast her family's story in the larger context of challenges facing native peoples. Rob Gray, a Republican political analyst, said the criticism could hurt Warren more if it came from a rival Democrat.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren announced on "Fox News Sunday" that she is not running for president in 2020. Warren is sticking to the story she was told, but that doesn't make it true.

When asked on Sunday morning's "Meet the Press with Chuck Todd" if she would "pledge" to voters to serve out a full six-year term representing Massachusetts, Warren repeatedly avoided the question, while insisting she is not running for president. "I am running for the United States Senate in 2018 MA, whoo-hoo".

When asked Sunday whether she'd agree to calls for genetic testing to resolve the heritage controversy, Warren launched into a family history, as purportedly told by her parents and grandparents, before saying, "It's a part of who I am, and no one's ever going to take that away".

Warren said she also is concerned Trump's lack of staffing and expertise at the State Department could undercut his planned meeting with North Korea's leader Kim Jong-un.

European Union to respond to United States tariffs within 90 days if not exempt
Aluminium producers' association European Aluminium called for an "immediate" implementation of measures if necessary. The tariffs would "seriously impact the normal order of global trade", the Ministry of Commerce said.

"Her Indian heritage claims have the potential to be a wildfire, but it will take one of her primary opponents raising it to strike the match", Gray said.

Warren then said that "more than half of all native women have been the victims of sexual violence", and the "United States government does nothing about that". "I never used it to advance my career", she reportedly told the organization.

A directory of law professors listed Warren as a minority from 1986 to 1995, just before she joined Harvard Law School. That's where I'm going to stay focused.

"Side issues may be fun to talk about for ideologues, but by and large the public isn't paying attention", he said.

"Would you be willing to take a DNA test to put this issue to rest?"

The idea of a DNA test has gained the support of Boston Globe columnist Joan Vennochi.
