Why Richard Sherman's contract is gold for 49ers

Richard Sherman did not choose San Francisco for the weather or the money or the restaurant scene. It's business, of course.

During his seven years with the Seattle Seahawks, Sherman became regarded as one of the best corners in the game and now leads the league with 32 interceptions since entering the NFL as a fifth-round draft pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. It was such a great opportunity. "And it matters that I need to be, to stay close enough to them to be able to see the kids and be able to come out and be comfortable".

One angry fan posted a video of himself burning his Richard Sherman Jersey. Cameron Wake, Terrell Suggs, Michael Crabtree, Demaryius Thomas, and more have done it. Players on this level who have suffered such an injury should have a one-year contract impacted, but not a multi-year deal. This Stanford MBA- and they went head-to-head for 5 and 1/2 hours. "I didn't abandon anybody".

The 49ers said Sherman came to the negotiating table prepared: he read through the contracts of all the other top cornerbacks in the league. But I wanted to make sure.

"We did have a trade in place with Denver for a veteran cornerback", (John) Lynch told me late Sunday afternoon.

Sherman must perform to get paid, but also said he offered the Seahawks the opportunity to match the team-friendly deal.

Sherman and the 49ers agreed on a three-year contract Saturday, a source confirmed.

Buddhist Sinhalese account for about 70 percent and ethnic Tamils, most of whom are Hindus, about 13 percent. The violence erupted after the death of a Buddhist Sinhalese man last week.

Sherman said "I'm vengeful in that way" when discussing what took him to San Francisco after the Detroit Lions set up a visit with the three-time All-Pro and several other suitors emerged. Sherman also had a cleanup surgery on his opposite ankle during the offseason.

Joining the Seahawks most bitter divisional rivals, with whom he's shared multiple fearsome battles, gives him the chance to face his old team twice a year.

This franchise just emerged from a maelstrom of distracting noise, starting with the echoes of Sherman's vociferous taunts after the 2013 season's NFC Championship Game. And the 49ers can get out of the deal before April 1, 2019, even if Sherman makes the Pro-Bowl guaranteeing his base salary for that season.

A lot of players may lack the knowledge necessary to act as their own agents, but at a potential savings of millions of dollars when it comes time to negotiate contracts with teams, they may now find it worthwhile to learn.

Shead played last season on a one-year contract for $1.05 million, appearing in only the final two games of the season due to a knee injury suffered in the playoff loss to Atlanta in January, 2017.

In a series of tweets on Monday, Thomas wrote that Sherman got "absolutely crushed" by the 49ers during negotiations.
