What Mueller Wants to Ask Trump About Obstruction, and What It Means
02 May, 2018, 01:05
President Trump Tuesday morning in a pair of tweets slammed special prosecutor Robert Mueller for questions he is preparing for Trump, saying that they had nothing to do with Mueller's original mandate, which was to investigate possible collusion by the Trump campaign with Russian Federation.
Mueller is probing Russia's alleged interference in the 2016 presidential election, whether Moscow colluded with the Trump campaign and if the president has unlawfully tried to obstruct the investigation.
More than half of the approximately 50 questions relate to possible obstruction of justice, and about a dozen involve allegations of possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation. Another: "During the campaign, what did you know about Russian hacking, use of social media or other acts aimed at the campaign?"
Despite the President's claim that there were "no questions on collusion", there were many questions on collusion in the leaked questions, according to the Times. The leading voice in opposition to Trump granting an interview with Mueller - John Dowd - left Trump's legal team in March.
Numerous questions are the direct results of tweets or press interviews the president has given since he took office.
In other words, roughly a third of Mr Mueller's questions cut right to the heart of the investigation into possible ties between Mr Trump's team and Russian Federation.
"So disgraceful that the questions concerning the Russian Witch Hunt were "leaked" to the media", Trump said.
"No questions on Collusion", Trump tweet-crowed. Oh, I see...you have a made up, phony crime, Collusion, that never existed, and an investigation begun with illegally leaked classified information. "Nice!" Trump tweeted at 6:47 a.m. Tuesday.
