Soon after ouster Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's interview to Dawn had the politician admit that it was Pakistan-based terror outfits which were responsible for the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, there were reactions from across the nation.

"We always maintained that Pakistan is behind terror attacks here (in Mumbai)". However, instead of replying to the actual query, the ruling party's "supreme leader" steered the conversation towards national security and foreign policy. He indicated that his country should look into why its narrative that it had been fighting terrorism had not been accepted by the global community "despite sacrifices". He said that an act of revenge in the name of accountability is not acceptable.

Minister of State for Home Hansraj Gangaram Ahir also asserted that Pakistan was exclusively responsible for the 26/11 attacks, adding that the Centre was ready to cooperate with Pakistan to combat terrorism. The story of Afghanistan was accepted, but not ours. Nawaz noted in an interview to Pakistan's Dawn newspaper in a reference to the Mumbai attacks-related trials which have stalled in a Rawalpindi anti-terrorism court. "President Putin has said it. President Xi has said it".

Jalgaon (Maharashtra) [India], May 12 (ANI): Senior Lawyer and Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam on Saturday questioned the democratic fabric of the Pakistan Government, by saying that the country's government is a puppet in the hands of its Army and its intelligence agency Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). The 20 year old terrorist was decided by the court to be hanged to death.

Citing the military and judiciary establishment, Mr. Sharif said, "You can't run a country if you have two or three parallel governments". However, Pakistan has repeatedly asked for 24 Indian witnesses to be presented in court to help finish the trial.

In 2016, the same publication's report 'Act against militants or face worldwide isolation, civilians tell military' had given birth to the Dawn Leaks scandal, a much-hyped controversy that resulted in the resignation of Pervaiz Rashid, then information minister.
