U.S. President Donald Trump holds up a proclamation declaring his intention to withdraw from the JCPOA after signing it at the White House in Washington, D.C., on May 8, 2018.

Tensions between Washington and Tehran were reignited after Trump pulled the U.S. out of the controversial Iran nuke deal, which he claimed would not stop the country from developing deadly warheads.

Iran's regional arch-foe Israel has always been opposed to the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and in April Netanyahu unveiled an intelligence trove on Iran's alleged nuclear ambitions.

The Israeli Prime Minister is now on a tour to persuade European leaders to tear up the deal.

He also called Israel a "malignant cancerous tumor" that should be removed.

Netanyahu called the post "quite extraordinary".

"The people of Iran and the government of Iran will never tolerate both suffering from sanctions and nuclear restrictions", said Khamenei.

He said, "We think that it's important, as Chancellor Merkel has said, that the IAEA investigates Iran based on this new information, a lot of new information that Israel has now provided the IAEA as well". She pledged to increase pressure on Tehran to scale back its military influence in the region.

The visit to Germany, traditionally Israel's closest European ally due to the enduring responsibility Berlin accepts for the Holocaust, comes at a time of further diplomatic tensions. As for curbing Iran's global influence, the supreme leader stressed that "we will continue our support for oppressed nations".

The other co-signers of the nuclear agreement met last month in Vienna, reaffirming their commitment to it.

Netanyahu, who has long railed against the deal, will continue on to Paris for meetings with French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday and British Prime Minister Theresa May on Wednesday.

Khamenei has dismissed these suggestions, and laid out Iran's demands for staying in the deal.

"We all know the Europeans are our friends and we love them to death, but they're not really good at leading and world issues", Kinzinger said.

Tehran has been able to bankroll a growing military presence in countries like Syria and Yemen because sanctions had been lifted in exchange for its halt in nuclear enrichment activities, Netanyahu argued.

"Production of various missiles and missile power provides security", Khamenei said.

At a news conference later, Yukiya Amano said his statement was "not an expression of concerns or complaints, but rather an encouragement to Iran".

In case European, Russian and Chinese signatories to the deal prove unable to protect its economic benefits for Iran, Khamenei said, "I have ordered Iran's atomic energy agency to be prepared to upgrade our (uranium) enrichment capacity".
