According to French outlet Foot365, Fellaini's team will meet officials from Arsenal this week to discuss a potential free transfer to the Emirates.

With Unai Emery coming becoming the new manager of Arsenal, this could be seen as a statement of intent should he be able to complete the deal for the tough midfielder. While United want to sign him to a new contract―manager Jose Mourinho is a fan of the Belgian―the former Everton man has chose to keep his options open as he wants to be a regular starter.

The 30-year-old is believed to be in talks with several clubs already, namely AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain and West Ham United.

But the report claims that Emery has made contact with the midfielder since he was officially appointed as Arsene Wenger's successor less than two weeks ago.

Fellaini, who now gets £80,000-a-week at Manchester United, reportedly wants an improved contract from the suitors and Arsenal might very well hand him that.

Fellaini, who is part of Belgium's World Cup squad, joined United from Everton in 2013 but has failed to hold down a regular place in recent times.

The Belgian is available on a free transfer at the end of his month when his United contract expires, and there has been little evidence thus far that the Old Trafford club will look to offer Fellaini a new deal. So it makes sense that they are going after free agents with Stephan Lichtsteiner also linked.
