Justin Trudeau Criticizes Trump, Says Canadians 'Will Not Be Pushed Around'

Премьер Италии поддержал Трампа и призвал вернуть Россию в G8 'Russia should be back in the G8': Italy's prime minister agrees with Donald Trump

President Donald Trump will be honoring a new guest at the White House soon - one who happens to agree with him that Russian Federation should be added back to the G-7.

On Saturday, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau sniped about "stragglers" after Trump was late to a breakfast session on gender equality.

The G-7 also includes Britain, Italy, France, Germany and Japan.

At issue are USA tariffs against Canada and Trudeau's effort to retaliate against its neighbor - as well as Trudeau's comment to reporters that all seven leaders had come together to sign a joint declaration after the G-7 meeting.

As Trump flew from the summit with U.S. allies to a planned meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Singapore, he lashed out at Trudeau for what he said were his "false statements" at a news conference and said the United States would not endorse the G7 communique, a negotiated statement on shared priorities among the group.

At the close of the summit, host Trudeau said the new tariffs on Canada under national security pretexts were "insulting" and that "Canadians are polite and reasonable but we will not be pushed around". "Very dishonest and weak", Trump said.

He insisted, like Trump himself has done many times, that Canada has enormous tariffs itself - especially on certain dairy and food products.

But after leaving for Singapore, Trump tweeted personal attacks on Trudeau and said that he had told his representatives not to sign the summit communique, turning what had already been a tense meeting of the world's leading industrialised democracies into a fiasco.

Trudeau also said that Canada will go ahead with retaliatory tariffs from July 1, according to CNN.

Kim, in his first public comments since arriving, said Singapore's role would be recorded in history if the summit was a success. Kim held a meeting with Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong ahead of the planned summit.

The US President addressed the subject of worldwide trade during an impromptu news conference at the summit Saturday, saying that he did not want to see other countries take advantage of the US over trade. A Trudeau spokesman, Cameron Ahmad, said Saturday night that Trudeau "said nothing he hasn't said before - both in public and in private conversations" with Trump.

Kudlow, in a separate TV appearance, said Trudeau was "polarizing" and "really kind of stabbed us in the back".

Trump has long argued that the U.S. is trapped in a number of trade deals that put the country at a competitive disadvantage.

Mr Trump told reporters at the G7 Summit he believed North Korean leader Kim Jong-un could make his country great but warned him: "It's a one-time shot".

"I agree with President Donald Trump".

Still, Trudeau also gave an account of his discussions with the USA president.

The comments come in the midst of Trump's ongoing trade war with allied nations.

Although Canada and Mexico say the idea is unworkable, Trump told reporters earlier on Saturday that the new deal would contain such a provision. To him, the gap between the value of what America sells and what it buys in foreign markets reflects economic weakness, trade accords that are unfair to the US and abusive policies by other countries.
