After months of debating the detail of the legislation that will trigger United Kingdom withdrawal from the European Union, the House of Commons will stage crucial votes on Tuesday and Wednesday that will decide her fate.

The hapless Labour leader has so far refused to back the option but appeared powerless to prevent another massive rebellion by Remainers on his benches who want to ignore the will of the British people.

Overall MPs voted against the House of Lords' amendments in three separate votes.

A member of Theresa May's government resigned Tuesday ahead of a key Parliamentary debate on legislation regarding Britain's departure from the European Union.

Five Labour MPs also rebelled by voting in favour of disagreeing with the Lords amendment: Ronnie Campbell, Frank Field, Kate Hoey, John Mann and Graham Stringer.

But the former Chancellor Kenneth Clarke has urged pro-EU rebels to hold their nerve, arguing that if they succeeded they would strengthen Mrs May's hand against the Brexit hardliners in the Cabinet.

The North Korean approach, he added was: "Let's be friends (ie, change the relationship), and then we will change our behaviour". Both sides were finalizing preparations for the unprecedented summit, which was to kick off at 9 a.m.

Brexit campaigners still expressed concern that the concession may open the door to the European Union trying to force Britain into retaining the closest possible ties with the bloc by weakening the government's hand in the talks.

He said: "I'm conscious that if we're to make progress we ought to try and do this by consensus, but he must also understand the difficulty the House is in when it is faced with this kind of choice".

Asked on BBC Radio 4's Today programme what would happen under Government plans if MPs voted against the deal eventually secured by Mrs May, Mr Davis said: "If they throw it out, well, they throw it out".

In a Facebook post, he said the Norway model would mean taking rules from Brussels without a role in making them, and would not help either set up a new customs union with the EU or avoid a hard border in Northern Ireland.

Earlier on Tuesday Brexit Minister David Davis issued a warning to parliament over the possibility of rejecting the government's compromise on the "meaningful vote" and backing the House of Lords amendment. If the government fails to pass the bill as it is, it will be forced to change what it asks for in negotiations with the European Union -undermining May's position and possibly threatening her job as Prime Minister.

The Sun had a frontpage of British icons including Stonehenge, a fish and chip shop, a London bus and a football, saying "Great Britain or Great Betrayal". After losing her party's majority in parliament at an ill-judged election past year, she now relies on the support of a small Northern Irish party and the distance between victory and defeat is narrow. "The end of March 2019, we leave the E.U. Full stop".
