President Donald Trump's tirade against motorcycle manufacturer Harley-Davidson represents a rather stunning reversal of his previous praise for the company.
The latter tweet seems to suggest the president doesn't understand the situation as Harley-Davidson was only planning to shift some production overseas to get around the new European tariffs.
Trump has dismissed the notion that his tariffs are to blame for Harley-Davidson's decision and has accused the company of using the duties as a false pretense for moving production out of the U.S.
In an emerging trade war sparked by USA steel and aluminum tariffs on American allies, the European Union responded with levies on a series of American products including motorcycles, bourbon and blue jeans.
The company says it's doing so because of tariffs it's facing in a trade dispute between the USA and the European Union.
In a series of caustic early-morning tweets Trump dismissed any notion that his policies were responsible for Harley-Davidson's move.
"I'm just telling you it's false", he said.
Germany to coast past an underwhelming South Korea
But after a 1-1 draw against Switzerland, Brazil needed two injury-time goals to pull out a 2-0 victory over Costa Rica . If both draws are with the same score, Germany finish second due to their head-to-head win over Sweden.
On March 9, Trump had imposed heavy tariffs on imported steel and aluminium items, leading to fears of a global trade war.
Trump's current attacks came after Harley announced on Monday that the company would shift some of its production outside of the United States due to Trump's trade battles and the European Union's retaliatory tariffs against the US. "Harley must know that they won't be able to sell back into U.S.without paying a big tax!" Harley-Davidson said it did not plan on raising retail or wholesale prices to cover the added costs.
Last year, Harley-Davidson announced it would build a plant in Thailand after Trump pulled out of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade deal, which would have abolished tariffs on their motorcycles across 40 percent of the world's economy.
"Europe is a critical market for Harley-Davidson", the company said, adding that it sold almost 40,000 motorcycles there in 2017. An unidentified official had said that the U.S. would collect $241 million (Rs 1,650 crore) worth of duties by hiking tariffs on certain steel and aluminium items from India. "It's very important to the long-term growth of the company as a segment within the worldwide growth opportunity". On Wednesday, Trump again took to Twitter to urge the company not to move any of its operations overseas and warning "we won't forget" the decision.
"A Harley-Davidson should never be built in another country-never!" he said on Twitter.
He said the company has been working with Twitter to see if the tweets could be removed and to figure out where they originated.
But Harley-Davidson's plight in Europe drew fresh interest from French Parliament member Eric Straumann, who contacted Levatich to propose a new factory on the French-German border in Alsace.

Uruguay have finished as first round group winners for the fifth time, having done so previously in 1930, 1950, 1954 and 2010. But perhaps the biggest plus was the late goal from Cavani, who had been frustrated during the group stage.
Spain's brand of football makes them easy on the eye and Isco and Iniesta provide the creativity to cut open defences. Spain will take on Russian Federation while Portugal will come face to face with Uruguay .
With Mexico taking control of the group, Germany can still finish as the runner-up with good results in their last two matches. World champions Germany failed to progress to the knockout stages at the 2018 World Cup after losing 2-0 to Korea Republic .
Thus far, the World Cup has been hard to predict, with some of the best teams falling to underdogs and confounding the experts. And while fans aren't psyched about the own goals, at least some of them are happy to clean up their own mess.
