Bourdain leaves bulk of $1.2M estate to 11-year-old daughter

Anthony Bourdain will Anthony Bourdain's Will Reveals Fortune Goes Mostly to Daughter
Ivan Hill | 07 July, 2018, 04:32

Reports had listed Bourdain's wealth to be far higher, around $16 million. That includes $425k in cash, $250k in personal property, $35k in brokerage accounts, and about $500k in royalties and residuals. according to the NY Daily News.

According to Bourdain's will, his only child, 11-year-old daughter Ariane, will be the inheritor of his properties.

The 61-year-old's estranged wife, Ottavia Busia-Bourdain, is the executor of the will. Bourdain left Busia all his "personal and household effects", including cars and frequent flier miles, with instructions to "dispose of in accordance with what (she) believes to have been my wishes".

Since his divorce with Busia was never formalized, she is legally still his next of kin.

Trump narrows his list for High Court nominee
Trump's choice, if confirmed by the Senate, would replace Kennedy, who last week announced his retirement , effective July 31. Senate Judiciary Committee that he chairs is beefing up staff to help evaluate President Trump's nominee to the U.S.

But in addition to the $1.21 million of assets designated in his will, Bourdain also kept an undisclosed sum in a private trust, according to documents obtained by TMZ. TMZ also notes this is a common move for people of substantial wealth, created to be both tax advantageous and a measure of privacy protection.

Some outlets put the value of his estate at $1.2 million, but the filing also noted a $1 million mortgage on an unspecified property ― possibly a Manhattan condo that Bourdain bought in 2014, the New York Post reported.

Due to the fact that Ariane is a minor - the court will appoint a guardian to protect the estate's interest on her behalf. "I should always be a renter", Bourdain told PEOPLE in February. "The bank owns it, and then you're stuck with it".

In 2013, Peabody Award judges honoured Bourdain and "Parts Unknown" for "expanding our palates and horizons in equal measure". He began dating actress Asia Argento in early 2017 and publicly supported Argento after she accused Harvey Weinstein of rape. Follow INSIDER on Facebook.
