The Daily Telegraph stays with Brexit but tries to turn the attention back on the prime minister, with "Revealed: advice from Trump that May ignored". He dismissed the interview, conducted by a Rupert Murdoch-owned publication, as "fake news" saying it didn't include his comments praising May.

He said the EU was "as bad" as China when it came to the way European countries traded with the US.

Within hours, however, Trump had flip-flopped and denied criticizing the prime minister, insisting: "We want to trade with the United Kingdom, and the United Kingdom wants to trade with us". "I actually told Theresa May how to do it but she didn't agree, she didn't listen to me ...

That is fake news, says Trump".

"I think she found it maybe too brutal", Trump said of the suggestions he made to May regarding Brexit. Later, during an inspection of guardsmen, Trump momentarily eclipsed the queen, moving in front of her and then stopping, apparently looking to see where she was.

DeLay called the meeting between Trump and May a success, despite a report in The Sun newspaper ran headlined, "Trump's Brexit Blast: Donald Trump told Theresa May how to do Brexit "but she wrecked it" - and says the United States trade deal is off". He even said she was an "incredible woman" doing a "great job".

During Friday's news conference with May, Trump dismissed critics of the meeting, characterizing it as deliberations that led to positive results, including every member vowing to allocate more money for defense.

The White House scrambled to clean up Trump's comments.

Blimp organizer Leo Murray told CNN the giant balloon had been created to speak to Trump "in a language that he understands, which is personal insults".

Not everyone was protesting against Trump, however.

Trump Apologizes to May and Vows U.K. Trade Deal After Brexit
He and First Lady Melania Trump are scheduled to have tea with Queen Elizabeth II at Windsor Castle in the late afternoon. With a lot of resignations", Trump told a news conference at the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation summit in Brussels.

Downing Street said Mrs May had presented the USA president with a gift of an illustrated ancestral chart of his Scottish heritage through his mother, and his wife with a bespoke perfume called the First Lady in a custom bottle.

A good Anglophile knows that an audience with Queen Elizabeth II is planned well in advance: from the way a guest greets her - bow or curtsy - to the way she is addressed: "Your majesty" first, "ma'am" thereafter. The proposal has infuriated hardline Brexit MPs.

During Friday's news conference, Trump spoke about how immigration is detrimental to Britain. As a final insult, he praised Mr. Johnson, saying that he would make a good Prime Minister. Trump added "I know it's politically not necessarily correct to say that, but I'll say it, and I'll say it loud".

"I predicted Brexit. I was cutting a ribbon for the opening of Turnberry - you know they totally did a whole renovation, it is attractive - the day before the Brexit vote", Trump said.

A British reporter put a pointed question to Trump, asking what he would say to people who were fearful of his election, to which Trump quipped, "That was your choice of a question? Just make sure we can trade together", Trump said.

There was a bit of a bump in their tour, however, over an interview he gave to British tabloid The Sun that was released hours after Trump landed.

Trump's interview published Thursday amounted to a stunning diplomatic affront for a visiting United States president, emerging while Trump was still at a gala dinner May threw in honor of his visit.

May was far more precise and short in her answers, did not attack political foes or the media, and was determined to avoid all criticism of Trump - even as she faced nonstop questions about his dismissals of her.

For May, it comes at a time when she is already politically weakened following a string of resignations from her Cabinet.

As Trump met with Prime Minister Theresa May at her country retreat outside the city, the protesters gathered outside embassies, offices and homes carrying signs that read, "Human rights have no border", and "Mother Earth unites us", before marching past the shops of Regent's Street on their way to Piccadilly Circus and finally Trafalgar Square, which the city calls a "centre of national democracy and protest".
