Fox News chief White House correspondent John Roberts criticized President Donald Trump on Friday for calling competing networks dishonest and "fake news" during a United Kingdom press conference.

The president then leaned into the microphone and loudly groused, "CNN is fake news".

"No. No. John Roberts go ahead".

NBC news reporter Ken Dilanian took to Twitter to suggest that John Roberts of Fox should have taken the moment to defend "his colleagues", including Acosta, who has a history of heckling at press events, instead of asking his own question of the president.

"So amusing! I just checked out Fake News CNN, for the first time in a long time (they are dying in the ratings), to see if they covered my takedown yesterday of Jim Acosta (actually a nice guy)", Trump tweeted Saturday.

Trump: "See, that's such dishonest reporting", he said, lambasting both NBC and CNN, which he frequently lumps together.

"Well we're a real network too, sir", Acosta responded. 'Mr President, I must object.

A day earlier, Trump took a question from CNN's Jeremy Diamond following the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation meeting.

Media solidarity has become an issue with White House briefings lately, as some journalists suggest that reporters should band together to prevent press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders from changing the subject to avoid answering questions. I also used to work at CNN. "She is as honest as the day is long", he said.

At the press conference, he said he has "a lot of respect for the prime minister" and that whatever she does with Brexit is "OK with me". Co-host Joe Scarborough frequently broke in while Trump talked on Thursday, calling some of his claims untrue.

Mason took it off and asked his question.

"That's not what I said". When asked about the video that recently surfaced of White House Chief of Staff looking displeased when President Trump said that "Germany is a captive of Russia", Sanders stated that Kelly's reaction was due to the contents of the breakfast of pastries and cheese, according to Salon. "To call her dishonest is unfair".
