Omarosa's new White House recording sounds alarm bells across Twitter

And she says Manigault Newman's decision to share the recording during a Sunday television appearance to promote her new book "further proves the lack of character and integrity of this disgruntled former White House employee".

"No", Trump said. "Nobody even told me about it".

Tommy Vietor, who previously worked as Obama's National Security Council spokesman, said the recording was against the rules but that the discussion itself was unclassified.

Manigault said that since this was her first conversation with Kelly, she'd like to ask some questions.

She insists her firing last December was because she knew too much about a possible audio recording of the President uttering a racial epithet, which she claims was the subject of deep consternation among campaign - and later White House - aides. In a subsequent interview, she changed her story to say that she had heard Trump utter that word, a reversal that highlighted her not-exactly-sterling level of credibility.

In it, Manigault Newman describes a mentally waning, racist and lewd, charismatic but emotionally abusive, man overseeing a conniving cast of aides and family members whose varied goals rarely include the betterment of the nation.

"John Kelly is running this White House, and Donald Trump has no clue what's going on". GOP spokeswoman Ronna McDaniel and others also played up the national-security implications of her clandestine recording, though it's not like this administration has been diligent about security enforcement in the West Wing before. In the book, she paints Trump as scattered, self-absorbed, misogynistic and insecure. The White House has already slammed it as "riddled with lies and false accusations".

Her about-face also includes the admission she was "complicit" in helping Trump appeal to the African-American community.

"He's being puppeted, and that's very risky for this nation", Manigault Newman continued.

The former White House staffer detailed her claim in her forthcoming book, writing that the offer was a way to keep her from speaking out. "And now she writes a book and all of a sudden she's like an oracle".

"No. I don't think he's fit", she said.

'This is somebody who gave a glowing appraisal of Donald Trump the businessman, the star of The Apprentice, the candidate, and indeed the president of the United States, ' she said.

"But what I know now, I didn't have the benefit of in 2003, or 2004, or 2010", she added. "I was complicit, and for that I regret".

April Ryan, the American Urban Radio Networks reporter who was routinely a target of Omarosa's, said on CNN that the former staffer is a "monster" that Trump created.
