Trump chose Kavanaugh, a conservative federal appeals court judge, for a lifetime job on the top US court in July after the retirement of Justice Anthony Kennedy.

Trump called Kavanaugh "just a wonderful human being" and suggested that Democrats were skeptical of Ramirez, saying, "They don't believe it themselves".

Kavanaugh rejected the latest claim Wednesday in a statement released by the White House, saying, "I don't know who this is and this never happened".

"The Republicans could not be nicer, could not be more respectful to the process, certainly could not be more respectful to the woman and I'm OK with that", Trump said, before adding: "I think I might have pushed it forward a lot faster".

Kavanaugh's march toward Senate confirmation has been rocked by allegations of decades-old sexual improprieties from two women. Her attorney, Michael Avenatti, posted the declaration on Twitter and provided it to the committee.

Kavanaugh, a judicial conservative and Trump's second Supreme Court pick, was nominated to fill the vacancy created by Justice Anthony Kennedy's retirement. Yet there remained concern among aides, and Trump himself, as to how Kavanaugh, who appeared shaken at times during the interview, would hold up facing far fiercer questioning from Senate Democrats on Thursday, according to a White House official not authorized to speak publicly about private conversations.

"She would be willing to testify, but we can't even talk with the Senate Judiciary Committee about what that would look like and they certainly haven't invited her, so at this point, it's a moot question", attorney John Clune said during an interview on NBC's "Today" show.

His confirmation to the lifetime job would cement conservative control of the Supreme Court, as Trump moves to shift the high court and the broader federal judiciary to the right.

Another woman, Deborah Ramirez, has accused him of exposing himself during a drunken dormitory party during the 1983-84 academic year when both attended Yale University. In the letter, Ford said she faced death threats and was relying on her lawyers and Grassley to "agree to conditions that will allow me to testify in a fair setting". "This is about a very serious allegation, a very serious crime", Wilkinson told CBS This Morning. Patty Murry, a Democrat from Washington, said at a press conference.
