Sinead O’Connor converts to Islam, changes her name to Shuhada Davitt

According to several posts to Twitter, the 51-year-old has taken the Muslim name Shuhada' Davitt.

Sinead O'Connor said that it is the natural conclusion of any intelligent theologian's journey.

The Irish singer added that Islam is the end of all scripture study and it is Islam that makes all other scriptures redundant.

The singer formerly known as Sinéad O'Connor has converted to Islam, changing her name to Shuhada'. "It will be Shuhada".

"She (friend) got chills all over her body when I put it on", the singer wrote. "But I'm a very, very, very happy old hag".

She later tweeted the photo of her wearing the clothing item.

Practicing her Arabic skills, she went on to post an emotional video as she sang the Azan, a call to worship, for the first time.

Yet her fight against the Catholic Church continued, and in 1999 O'Connor was ordained as a priest by a breakaway church based in the French city of Lourdes.

In 2017, she posted a tearful 12-minute video message, in which she discussed how she had experienced suicidal feelings for two years, and opened up about how alone she felt after losing custody of her teenage son.

'One More Yard is inspired by 90 letters home from a young Irish soldier Lieutenant Micahel Thomas Wall, who was killed at Flanders during the war.
