Megyn Kelly won’t return to NBC after defending ‘blackface’ costumes

NBC Cancels ‘Megyn Kelly Today’ NBC: Megyn Kelly Today won’t return after anchor’s blackface comments

Her future with NBC remains uncertain.

Even before the controversy, Kelly had struggled in the ratings, often losing out to her competitors at ABC, a talk show hosted by Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest.

While at Fox, Kelly cultivated a reputation for toughness and a willingness to challenge conservative orthodoxy. Her book title suggested she wanted to "settle for more".

But her rocky transition to morning news showed just how hard it is to separate one's identity from the Fox News brand.

For weeks, Kelly had been vocal with friends about her dissatisfaction with the bosses at NBC News.

After a week of controversy, Megyn Kelly Today has officially been canceled.

Kelly joined NBC News from Fox in 2017, signing a three-year deal worth $69 million. One of Kelly's first interviews on her NBC show was with the cast of the TV show "Will & Grace".

"We are extremely happy with our entire lineup", said a Fox News spokesperson. She again came under fire this week for not understanding why dressing in blackface for Halloween was offensive.

Kelly earned fame as a longtime anchor for Fox News, notably sparring with Donald Trump during the 2016 presidential election campaign. "But I also think that it is partially the fault of the people who hired her", Lemon said Thursday on "Cuomo Primetime". "Only the truth will set you free!"

Kelly grew up in a world without diversity and she still employs the lessons from her youth as a guide within an increasingly diverse and racially equitable America. "Next week, the 9 a.m. hour will be hosted by other TODAY co-anchors".

This week, Kelly apologized and said she was sorry for her comments about blackface. This was all before Kelly said on Tuesday that dressing in black face was "ok" when she was a kid.

Kelly apologized to fellow NBC staffers later in the day and made a tearful apology on her show Wednesday. The studio audience gave her a standing ovation. "She said something stupid". "Everyone's being told that they still have a home here, but it won't be on Megyn's show", the insider shared. "She is one of the biggest advocates for women".

No details on who or what will replace Kelly's morning show were immediately available. She also highlighted harassment allegations against Tom Brokaw, the legendary NBC anchor, which he denied. Kelly wrote in part in the email, which was obtained by ABC News. She famously declared on air at the cable channel that both Santa and Jesus were white.

Farrow famously exited NBC News when the division declined to broadcast his report about women's claims against Hollywood mega-producer Harvey Weinstein, claiming it was not ready for broadcast.
