Previous reports have pegged that the phone could ultimately launch as the Galaxy X. Samsung has in the past shown flexible displays for smartphones, though these were all prototypes.

Citing people familiar with the matter, the publication adds that the South Korean company is already in talks with Verizon to launch its Galaxy S10 in the USA with a 5G wireless chipset, that will allow Samsung to secure support from the biggest US carrier in promoting the new wireless technology standard.

Samsung is also apparently preparing to allow the Galaxy S10 to support 5G wireless connectivity, and while you may not be able to make the most of that feature at launch, it will help future-proof the device. The model could replace Samsung's existing Galaxy A lineup altogether as it hopes to win consumers with the pull of Galaxy S branding.

While the above image shows off the Lenovo Folio foldable tablet that's already been teased at a trade show, Samsung may be working on its own version. While the highest RAM configuration will be reserved for the high-end variant, the Galaxy S10 X is expected to boast 8GB RAM.

The cheaper version of the Galaxy S10 will not have a curved display but it may still be an OLED panel. This particular model is also tipped to miss out on in-display fingerprint sensor in order to cut down on costs.

"We're continually evolving our smartphone portfolio to provide our customers with new and exciting innovations and experiences. Please stay tuned", Samsung said in a statement.

As for the foldable or bendable Galaxy phone that we've been hearing about for so long, we may not see it until Q2 of next year. Bloomberg reports that Samsung is debating between two prototypes ahead of final release: one that is horizontally longer and the other vertically longer when unfolded. Both the models open from side to side, however, the landscape model has fallen out of favour as some designers felt the "portrait type" to be easier to handle with one hand, the report cited.

According to Kim, the phone will open with "a snap" like the Motorola RAZR phones but has a "smoother feel". Mass production of the devices is still a question.

In a Bloomberg report that we covered earlier this morning, the site rehashed a number of rumors we've been seeing for months about Samsung's next-generation smartphone lineup. The user interface is expected to heavily depend on which of the two of designs the company finalise.
