The US inquiry into alleged Russian meddling during the 2016 election could be under threat after President Donald Trump fired Attorney General Jeff Sessions, top opposition Democrats say.

American citizens in Vancouver are planning a protest Thursday following the firing by U.S. President Donald Trump of Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Whitaker was Sessions' chief of staff and outwardly criticized Mueller's investigation.

"Our country is on the line", Myra Slotnick, a rally organizer, told the crowd gathered across the street from the golden-domed State House.

That nearly certainly wouldn't be the end of this story, but it's the beginning of a new, fraught chapter.

The letter also noted that Whitaker had made no secret of his opinions on Mueller's work, which could prove problematic for the special counsel. "That's why it presents a grave threat".

The nationwide protest is being organized by a coalition of hundreds of public interest organizations. Last year Sessions recused himself from overseeing the Mueller probe, which has been a constant source of anger from the president. US Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer shortly after the news broke said in a statement that Whitaker in his new role should recuse himself from overseeing Mueller's investigation.

Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan, one of several public officials invited to the event, called Mueller "an awesome public servant".

And apart from the potential Whitaker effect on federal enforcement, there's something else worth knowing about the acting attorney general: He's a climate skeptic.

Pep Guardiola - Maybe Raheem Sterling could have told the referee
Unfortunately we're not qualified but we are so close. We reacted really well, especially the last two. We are in a good position but it is not done.

She emphasized the importance of a fair and impartial prosecutor. His replacement now faces questions about whether he will seek to hinder or shut down that investigation. "You would have somebody from your campaign take the meeting to try to get the information", he said. They chanted slogans, including "Enough is enough" and booed mention of Whitaker's name.

In an editorial for CNN.com past year, Whitaker made clear that he believes the president's personal finances are off limits to special counsel Robert Mueller.

He said that in the Old Dominion, Democrats and some Republicans agreed that Trump appears "untethered" - appearing to allude to why Sen.

"We are facing a continuing assault on our democracy", she said.

The 90-minute presser was a finger-wagging spectacle, with Trump repeatedly berating reporters and the media, and some observers comparing him to a drunk uncle at a wedding party as he rambled incoherently on sundry issues in a spectacle that many fear diminishes the United States.

"He'll have no qualms whatsoever about attempting to undermine Mueller's investigation", said Fein. It wasn't Sessions' deputy, Rod Rosenstein, the man who appointed Robert Mueller. He is a Trump loyalist, once described as the president's "eyes and ears" at DOJ.

"I'm afraid that I see so many people in our country that don't see how risky this is for our democracy", Jones said.

Genevieve Howe, of Roslindale, wrote the message, "UPHOLD THE CONSTITUTION". During that campaign, one of his chief pledges at a GOP forum was that he would ask candidates for a federal judgeships whether they are "people of faith" who had "a biblical view of justice". "Sessions allowed the Department of Justice to function as the political arm of the Trump administration to undo fundamental rights that protect each of us, disregarding years of legal precedent and settled law". Marie Follayttar Smith, executive director of Mainers for Accountable Leadership, said rallies were also held in Bangor, Brunswick, Augusta, Lewiston, Belfast, Kittery and Rockland.
